Dear God #1- The Very First Time [A Memoir]

Applying for a Customer Service Position
 March 26, 2012

Dear God,

I thank you for this day. Thank you for the guidance and protection that you always give for me each day.
I tried to look for a job. I was really excited to do this because this is going to be my first time but there was a mixed feeling inside of me; the half-self was telling me to go and the other half was telling me that I have nothing to show off. But because I was really determined to do this, I pursued my objective for this day. I found the the center which is urgently hiring for new applicants, I boldly entered the door and asked the person whom I think as one of the employees if I could apply for their company and she said that I should wait for a while. So, I seated on the waiting area then suddenly the person who was in-charge to accommodate the new applicants came to us and told us to enter a room. When I entered the room, my heartbeat started to roll all over again but then I pretended as a professional, just like them while in fact, I really didn't know what to do. Then, the interviewer asked me, "Are you Mark Gil?",
Hoping that I will be one of them
"Yes, ma'am", I said. Back on my mind, I was panicking on the next line that she would ask me.
"Are you still studying?", she said.
"Yes, ma'am. I am a first year college student.", I said.
"All right. Actually Mark, we are not (owww, when I heard this, I knew already what will be the next line) accepting working students here and you should at least take two years in college. If you are still interested, you may go back here next year."
That was a heart-shaking moment. I looked for a job for the very first time and got rejected for the very first time at the same time! But one thing I realized about what had happened to me this day was to accept the fact that no one gets to the top of the mountain unless you climb it harder.

Yes, I considered it as a failure but I know that you see every pain and effort that I have. I know that you guarantee the hardships we have for good in this life. All I need to do is to trust in you. My heart shouts for joy because you let me experience this kind of wonder in my life. I know that each day has something to learn about.

Sincerely Yours,
  Your Servant

  1. "Failure is a success; once you learn from it." :) You tried. You learned. That's all that matters. :)
